Another FaceBook Tourette’s Moment and A Subtle way of Proclaiming the Existence of my Chats with George Saunders

Apropos of nothing or Another FB Tourette’s moment— Ever since Spy Magazine (righteously) lampooned Peter Travers’s blurb laden reviews I have (righteously) dismissed him as a creditable film commentator. Now comes a piece in The NYT magazine extolling George Saunder’s new opus as the “best book you will read in 2013.” Today’s NYT has a full page ad (mucho dinero) for Saunder’s new tome. I love George and his fiction (and his dogs) and would begrudge him nothing. So good for him. But the idea that an editor let that piece of grandiose piffle remain in a serious feature/profile does lead me to think degrading thoughts about the author and the editor and not least ,the NYT.

This would be a propitious moment to point out that I have had a number of conversations with Mr Saunders and well, they are.uh, conversational

Here’s one at Identitytheory

And my chat with Saunders at The Morning News

That’s all.
